Her endearing, 10-year labor of love, On The Street Where I Lived: Autobiography Of A Child, tells the heartwarming, nostalgic story of life growing up at 507 W. Aldine Ave. in Lake View. Markbreit, the host and producer of a public access television interview series, said she “knew the neighborhood was different from all other neighborhoods, almost holy.”

Condo board at Hancock tower takes another shot at rental rules

A fight over rental rules at the John Hancock Center may be nearing an end as the building’s condo board pushes a diluted proposal to cap leasing at the downtown skyscraper. Once listed as the second tallest building in the world, the 100-story Hancock tower, at 875 N. Michigan Ave. boasts an observatory, numerous restaurants and shops, office space, and over 700 luxury condominium units in the building’s middle floors.

Kristil is a spunky, 1-year-old Shepherd/Terrier mix who loves to have fun. She is an active girl who loves to play fetch and run around the dog park. She has completed and excelled in an obedience class, and her trainer has offered Kristil’s new family free training classes for life because of her excellent behavior in class. Kristil hopes to find a loving home where she can be the only dog.

A woman told police that while she was walking on the 700 block of West Evergreen Avenue at around 2:00 a.m. on Feb. 15, a man ran up from behind and grabbed her purse, which contained several forms of ID.

Round two on CTA train

A man was jumped by three unknown attackers on a train at around 3:15 a.m. on Feb. 15. Officers arrived at the Clark/Division CTA train station about 15 minutes after the incident and met with the victim, 44, who stated that he had been travelling southbound on a Red Line train when three men approached him and asked for money.

Sandwich shop robbery

At around 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 19, a man walked into a Subway restaurant at 304 W. Hubbard St. and produced a silver handgun, which he pointed at a cashier and stated “Give me all your money, and do it fast.”

The employee complied, handing over $150 in cash from the register. The offender took the money and fled the store, heading west on Hubbard Street.

A proposal to uproot trees along the lake catching flack from green advocates

The city may revise its plans to remove a grove of trees near Lincoln Park’s lakefront area after fielding pushback from local green space advocates. Friends of the Parks president Erma Tranter recently met with the officials from the Chicago Department of Transportation to petition the agency to scale back its designs to remove some 40 trees from around the Fullerton Parkway bridge, which is slated for an overhaul due to begin next month.
