Scooby Boy is a tiny, 6-year-old Shih Tzu with a very big heart! Matted, underweight, and frightened, Scooby Boy was a sad sight when he arrived at the PAWS Chicago Rescue and Recovery Center. At just 12 lbs., the world is a very big, scary place to Scooby Boy.

Tropical weather is coming back to Chicago - at least inside the greenhouses of the Garfield Park Conservatory. The display gardens are being prepped for winter by installing protective insulation while continuing repairs from the damaging hailstorm this past June.

Bank robber has second thoughts

Police responded to a burglary call at the North Community Bank at 2335 N. Clark St. on the afternoon of Dec. 9. Upon arrival, officers were told by staff at the bank that a man wearing a pink scarf and a hunter's cap entered the building at around 4:15 p.m. that day and handed the teller a note demanding money.

Rescues of the Week

Leroy is a handsome, 2-year-old Shepherd mix. This sweet boy arrived at PAWS Chicago after he was left as an unclaimed stray at Animal Care & Control. Energetic, Leroy still has a lot of puppy in him and is always up for a good time. He loves to run and chase tennis balls and would do well in an active home where he will get a lot of exercise.
