A 55-year-old woman reported at 3:15 p.m. August 13 a strong-arm robbery in an elevator on the 700 block of N. LaSalle. A man wearing a bright pink shirt reached into the first floor elevator and grabbed a necklace from around the victim’s neck. The man was earlier seen going from office to office in the upper floors of the building. Police are expecting to revue footage from lobby security cameras to possibly identify a suspect.

Assault

A 23-year-old man from Ohio reported being struck in the head while walking near DePaul University on August 22 at 2 a.m. Police reported the victim was covered in blood at the time of their response. The man reported missing five $20 bills, but had his wallet and identification.

Cuttery burgled

The manager of the Hair Cuttery on N. Clybourn reported at 8:45 am on August 18 that the salon had been burglarized. Missing were blow dryers and curling irons worth $590. Police reported the cash register was disheveled along with numerous hair products and employee’s personal items.

Robber runs

An 18-year-old man reported at 12:34 a.m. August 19 being beaten and robbed on the 400 block of W. Evergreen. While walking through a courtyard four young men attacked the victim, beating him in the face, head and body before taking $500 in cash. Searching police found one suspect who eluded arrest by running into a building that police were unable to enter.

iTheft

In keeping with the down economy and crimes of opportunity, a 27-year-old Florida man reported at 8:43 p.m. on August 23 that his iPhone was stolen out of his hands as the doors on the CTA Brown Line opened Sedgwick. The man chased after his phone, but was unable to keep up and lost it to a thief in a white, red and yellow shirt.
