Anitra Schulte and Elsa

Meet our newest Skyliner — making her modeling debut right here — the incredibly precious Elsa Louise Schulte.

Elsa was born Dec. 28 at Prentice Women’s Hospital, weighing in at 4 pounds, 15 ounces and standing 19 inches tall. Proud mom is my former co-worker Anitra Schulte, a North Sider who works for the River North PR agency Henson Consulting. And proud daddy is Dan Schulte, an employee of the Loop-based Quandel Consultants.

If Elsa turns out anywhere near as gorgeous as her mom, she is going to be one lucky lady. And her dad is no slouch either!

Anitra tells me the name Elsa is a diminutive form of Elizabeth, which is quite fitting for this little queen.

“We love the name, which is Teutonic and represents our family’s German, Scandinavian and British heritage,” she said.

“Elsa is just the very best baby — and such a little princess,” said Anitra. “She’s only a few days old but is always making elegant little gestures with her hands and crossing her legs. She is constantly making us laugh and breaking our hearts. And she’s making it so very easy on us first-time parents.”

Daddy Dan reports that the family is resting and doing wonderfully. Here’s wishing them much love and happiness!

Unwanted Christmas present… I received a blanket email from 43rd Ward Ald. Michele Smith regarding the City Council ward map redraw, which must legally be done every 10 years to reflect population shifts based on the latest census.

Apparently, that process had been going well, with the 43rd Ward’s boundaries largely unaffected until just before Christmas, when a different map surfaced whose purpose seems primarily to keep some aldermen in office rather than to focus on delivering services, Smith said.

Under the new map, Lincoln Park is divided into five wards: the 43rd, 44th, 32nd, 27th, and a brand new neighborhood ward, the 2nd. This map puts Wrightwood Neighbors, Park West Community Association and Ranch Triangle into two wards that are completely out of the 43rd Ward, and divides Sheffield Neighbors into three wards and Lincoln Central into four wards, Smith said.

The alderman asks, “So, what can we do to ensure that the services of the 43rd ward are timely and efficiently provided and avoid litigation?” She wants everyone to pass the word about this and write, call (773-478-8040) or email Ald. Dick Mell (33rd), chairman of the Rules Committee, 3649 N. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, 60618. Tell Mell you support the Taxpayer Protection Map and preserving the 43rd Ward.

Smith said there will be a hearing next week on the proposed remap, with time and location not yet set. Anyone interested should call her office at (773) 348-9500.

Talking turkey… For the fifth straight year, the Chicago Irish Brotherhood (CIB), 28 E. Division St., supported the Emergency Fund’s Holiday Turkey & Ham Giveaway for more than 12,500 seniors and needy families for Christmas.

“One of my long time mentors is Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and when he asked me to get involved with the Emergency Fund’s Holiday Food Distribution program, the Chicago Irish Brotherhood and I were quick to help,” said Gold Coaster Tim Egan, who founded CIB in 1996.

The Chicago Irish Brotherhood has 300 members and has adopted a philosophy that charity does not have to hurt or be boring.

“We are proud to join Secretary of State White, the Lodge Management Group, the Illinois Association of Realtors, Division Street Merchants Association and many other groups and individuals,” said Egan.

Dear God… My prayer for 2012 is for a fat bank account and a thin body. Please don’t mix these up like you did last year. AMEN!
