I found Ann Gerber’s tabloid-like comments about Queen Elizabeth (May 26, 2011) tasteless and unbefitting of a serious newspaper publication. In an age where women are more and more self-conscious of their body images, I thought it irresponsible and unsympathetic to refer to Her Majesty as someone who used to be a “beautiful young woman” but now is “dumpy, frumpy, (and) lumpy.”
As for Ms. Gerber’s comments about the Queen “doing the royal bedroom romp,” I cannot even imagine why your newspaper would allow such a tacky, disrespectful remark to be published. I do believe it is true that this woman has out-lived her usefulness and should indeed “step down!” I am speaking of Ann Gerber and not the Queen of England.
