Endorsement: Christian Mitchell for state rep

The race for the 26th District seat in the Illinois House is perhaps the tightest in the state. That’s not without reason: Christian Mitchell and Kenny Johnson are two of the best candidates we’ve seen angling for the statehouse this election season.
Unfortunately, they happen to be running against each other, and so we have to pick one of them.
We think Christian Mitchell is the best candidate for the job.
At only 25, he’s young, but he’s got political experience beyond his years. He’s already written two pieces of successfully passed legislation. He’s worked in the campaigns of two other upstanding politicians (Attorney General Lisa Madigan and 4th Ward Ald. Will Burns) and worked on the staff of our exceedingly sharp Cook County Board president, Toni Preckwinkle.
Most importantly, he’s incredibly sharp on the issues. He’s strong in his convictions and he speaks with authority.
His opponent, Kenny Johnson, has a political background as well, having worked for Jesse Jackson Jr.’s campaign some years ago. He’s since started his own business, a PR company. His campaign is mostly business-focused and he has some fine ideas. Though we’re not endorsing him in this race we hope he runs for something else soon.
