Lollapalooza, the music mega-festival that ran in Grant Park from Aug. 5 through 7, is expected to have its unique tax-exempt status reviewed thanks to questions about whether the city gets the money it should from the event.

When Nancy Remick was invited to famed milliner Raymond Hudd's 2003 retirement party, the hat-maker had an odd request. Although she owned many of his creations, "he insisted I wear a black dress and no hat," recalled Remick, a Lincoln Parker. Hudd already had something in mind for Remick's head for the huge gala at the Chicago History Museum that night - a chapeau with black-lacquered tree branches and yellow monarch butterflies.

The Sheffield House is one of two SROs that have abruptly shut down in Lakeview amid a change in ownership. The Bel Air Hotel, at 424 W. Diversey Ave., also served eviction notices in mid-July that went into effect this week on Monday.

The Habitat Company has long been an influence in shaping the Chicago Housing Authority's plan to redevelop the city's public housing stock. Now the organization may send one of its own to lead the agency into a new era. Earlier this month, Mayor Rahm Emanuel named four candidates for consideration in his appointment of a new CEO for the housing authority.

The look on Tessa's face was one of nervous hesitation as she watched Nicole Campos climb the steps of the second floor South Side apartment.
