The manager of the Tokyo 21 restaurant at 1400 N. Wells told police that on the morning of April 20, he arrived at the building to find that someone had forced open the door to an office in the establishment. The room was looked disheveled and the manager soon saw that the office safe had been cut open on the top and bottom and that between $2,000 and $2,500 had been removed.

Would-be robber busted

Police arrested a teenage boy who had attempted to hold up a 50-year-old man with a BB gun. At around 10:45 p.m. on April 11, the victim, a Northwest Side resident, was perusing a store on the 700 block of West Armitage Avenue when the offender, 14, entered the shop holding a gun and told the man to give him $500 and an iPad.

Shot near North Avenue beach

A 21-year-old man was walking near North Avenue Beach on the early morning of April 13 when an SUV carrying four men pulled up beside him in a parking lot. One the passengers yelled an expletive remark and the man then heard a loud gunshot, which he realized seconds later had hit his ankle. A passing woman offered the man a ride to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the man was treated for the injury and later released in stable condition.

Ice pick attack

A 39-year-old man told police he was talking to a woman in a parking lot on the 800 block of North Cambridge Avenue at that at around 1:30 a.m. on April 3 when a woman who they both knew ran up and told them to get away from her car. The man complied and began to walk away, but the woman followed him in her car, cursing at him.

Elderly man tied up, beaten and robbed

On the morning of April 8, police received a call from the neighbor of a 62-year-old man who had reportedly been found naked outside of his home and appeared to have suffered from a physical attack. The witness said that when he found the man outside of his apartment, on the 1300 block of North Cleveland Avenue, he was struggling to breath and bleeding from his mouth.

Boy shot over bicycle

A teenage boy suffered a bullet to the arm following a dispute over a stolen bike in the area bordering Cabrini-Green and Old Town. At around 10 p.m. on April 9, the boy, 15, and another male friend were leaving the Sammy’s Red Hots hot dog stand at 238 W. Division St. when his friend decided to take a bike that was parked outside of the restaurant.

Missing gun

A 27-year-old man told police that on the evening of March 25 he returned to his apartment on the 1300 block of North Dearborn Street to find that someone had entered his dwelling and taken his .22 caliber rifle. The man said that the gun was not registered and he did not know the model or the serial number for the item.

Forced into a car

At around 3:00 a.m. on March 31, two men were walking on the 100 block of West Hubbard Street when they were approached by a man who told them to get into a white four-door car parked nearby. The man displayed a handgun and the victims walked toward the vehicle, where two other people were waiting and proceeded to force the men into the vehicle.

ATM stick-up

Two men from Bensenville were walking on the 400 block of North Michigan Avenue at around 2:20 a.m. on March 30 when a man and a woman approached them, the former producing a gun and directing them to a nearby ATM. The man told one of the victims to take out $300, to which he complied and handed over the money. The woman then took the other victim’s cellphone and the two offenders got into a grey vehicle parked across the street and drove off in a northerly direction.

Cabbie's attacker nabbed

At around 6:30 p.m. on March 28, police driving on the 1200 block of North Clybourn Avenue came across a man leaning against his taxi and nursing a head injury. Upon being approached by the officers, the man said that he had been robbed and attacked by a person later identified as Andre T. Pughsley, of the 1400 block of North Washtenaw Avenue.
