Woman busted robbing store with fake grenade

Taryn Lombardi, of the 1500 block of West 19th Street, was arrested on Sept. 27 after she attempted to rob a drug store with what was later found to be a phony hand grenade.

Henry J. Mendez of the 4000 block of West Oakdale Avenue, Vanessa Fernandez of the 6900 block of Belmont Avenue and Tiffany M. Sanchez of 3200 block of West Cortland Street found themselves in custody after they led police on a high-speed chase that was sparked by a gunshot on the Near North Side around 4:00 a.m. on Sept. 4.

On Aug. 8, a 60-year-old woman taking a morning walk through a park on the 300 block of East Chicago Avenue was robbed. An unidentified man ran up to the woman, knocked her to the ground and attempted to take her purse. The victim managed to hold onto her bag, and the offender fled.
