Police on patrol arrived in the 600 block of N. Franklin May 1 at 1:10 a.m. where they discovered two men fighting. Police approached to separate the men. As they did, one of the men got on top of the other and started pummeling his face and body. Police told the assailant to stop. He refused.

Cops cuff phone thief

A man was walking near the 100 block of E. Grand April 26 at 3:20 p.m. talking on his cell phone, when another man approached, shoved him in the back and snatched his cell phone. The man fled east on Grand and the victim gave chase. Police officers on a nearby patrol noticed the victim chasing the offender east on Illinois near Rush and they also gave chase. They stopped the offender at 161 E. Illinois and recovered the victim’s phone.

Shots fired inside restaurant

Chicago police last week arrested two men, one of whom reportedly fired a handgun twice inside a restaurant in the 900 block of N. Halsted, apparently in retaliation for an argument the man had with someone a few days earlier.

Man whacked with bat

Two men were walking down the street near the 1700 block of N. Marcey April 7 at 3:05 a.m. after leaving a bar when they were approached from behind by two other men. The guys who approached yelled, “Where you guys from?” and then produced an aluminum baseball bat and demanded money.

A woman boarded a CTA train near the 1200 block of N. Clark March 29 at 10 a.m. and noticed a man on the train being loud and disruptive. The man sat down in front of her, so she moved to another seat. The offender moved and sat in front of her again.

Woman stops thief on train

A woman was riding the Red Line near the 1200 block of N. Clark on March 15 at 7:10 p.m. when the train stopped and a man riding next to her got up, grabbed her buttocks and then took her briefcase. A struggle ensued over the briefcase and the woman regained control of it.
