Two men came up to a house in the 1200 block of N. Schick Dec. 15 at 3:20 a.m. knocked on the door and said, “Open up. It’s the police.” The owners of the home saw that the men had handcuffs and a gun, but were not in uniform. The owners did not open the door and the men fled down Clybourn in a red Dodge Charger. Police arrived and located the offenders. A search of the offenders turned up handcuffs, a gun, a badge, and pepper spray. They interviewed the offenders and one of the men said he threw a gun in the vicinity of Clybourn and Schick. Police recovered the gun and transported the men to the 18th District police station.
Battering robbers bagged
A man was walking north in the 1200 block of N. Sedgwick Dec. 20 at 1:34 a.m. with his girlfriend when two men approached them. One of them struck the boyfriend on the left side of his face with what the victim thought was a board or a piece of steel. The men then kicked him in his face and body and snatched $40 out of his hand. The girlfriend yelled for help, and security personnel from a nearby grocery store headed toward them. The offenders fled. Police arrived and radioed a description of two men in ski masks fleeing east on Division. Separate units located the offenders and arrested them. The offenders were positively identified by the victims. The boyfriend was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was treated for a broken eye socket and a laceration above his eye.

A man was in the 100 block of E. Chestnut Dec. 21 at 2:30 a.m. when two men approached him, displayed a gun and said, “Give me your money.” The victim told the offenders he was a Chicago police officer and pulled out his own gun. The offenders fled east and then south through an alley. Police toured the area, but did not locate the man.
Cell phone and money stolen
A woman was walking near the 100 block of W. Oak Dec. 15 at 10:50 a.m. when a man approached and grabbed her pants, took her cell phone and an unknown amount of money. Woman robbed while dining
A woman sat down at a restaurant located in the 400 block of N. Michigan Dec. 15 at 11:25 a.m., took off her jacket and draped it over the back of her chair. A man then came in to the otherwise empty restaurant and sat down at the table beside her. After five minutes he got up and left the restaurant without ordering food. After eating, the woman reached in her pocket to get her wallet, and discovered two credit cards, her driver’s license and $100 missing. The woman notified the restaurant manager, who called police. The manager told the victim she kicked that offender out of the restaurant last week for acting suspiciously. Police requested security video footage of the restaurant for their investigation.
Man breaks up auto break-in
A man went to check on his car located in a parking garage near 600 N. Lakeshore Dec. 15 at 3:40 a.m. and saw a man in a black skull cap and black puffy coat sitting in his passenger seat. As he approached the car, the offender got out of the car, pushed him and fled. The passenger side window was smashed by a metal bracket left on the floor of the car. The man’s leather wallet containing $95 and various credit cards was missing. Police toured the area, but did not locate the man.
Shoplifter arrested for battery
A woman entered a drug store located in the 1600 block of N. Wells Dec. 15 at 2:12 a.m. and was told she was not allowed in the store due to a previous shoplifting charge. The offender refused to leave. Security started to escort her out and she started struggling and slammed doors on the security agent’s right finger. The offender ran into a nearby Starbucks across the street where she was arrested and charged with battery.
