Party guest home invasion

Three men broke into a house in the 2100 block of N. Halsted Nov. 2 at 7:06 p.m., one brandished a black-and-silver semi-automatic pistol. They ordered the home owner to get on the floor and into a corner of his house. The offenders then went in to all the rooms of his house and took various electronics, a semi-automatic gun and more than $1,500 dollars in cash. The victim told police he recognized the offender from a party that had been thrown at the house. Police are investigating.
Woman robbed at gunpoint
A woman was parking her boss’ car in the 300 block of W. Chestnut Nov. 2 at 5:23 p.m. when a man approached. He displayed a chrome-plated gun and told her to hand over her purse and cell phone. She handed over a Louis Vuitton make-up bag containing various identification and credit cards. The offender ran south on Franklin. Police did not locate the offenders.
Burgled at a burger shack
A woman was eating lunch at a burger restaurant in the 2100 block of N. Clybourn Nov. 2 at 4:43 p.m. when she noticed her wallet was missing. She asked the establishment if they had a security camera and if she could view the footage because she suspected a patron stole the wallet. She reviewed the video and saw a man reach into her purse and take the wallet. She did not recognize the offender, but turned over the footage to help police conduct their investigation.
Beer bottles bust windshield
A cabbie was driving in the 300 block of W. Ontario Nov. 1 at 4:20 a.m. when an unknown person threw two beer bottles out of a building window. The bottles struck the windshield of his cab, causing it to break.
Jumped near a gas station
A man was walking away from a gas station in the 600 block of N. LaSalle Nov. 1 at 1 a.m. when two cars pulled up and six or seven males in their twenties jumped out and started beating him. They took his cell phone, $200 cash and his keys. The offenders fled and were not located by police.
Purse snatching
A woman was leaving a store in the 1000 block of N. State Nov. 2 at 2:30 p.m. when a male offender ran up to her and pushed her against a wall. He ripped her purse from her hands and ran north on State. She noticed the building had security cameras and requested a copy of the footage for the police investigation. Security told her they noticed the man casing the building earlier that morning, walking back and forth in front of the lobby. Later in the day, when the woman went to cancel her stolen credit cards, she noticed the offender had made $70 purchase at a drug store.
Tools of the trade stolen
A woman returned to her car parked in the 300 block of W. Ontario Nov. 1 at 6:40 a.m. and found her rear passenger window broken. More than $2,000 worth of hair cutting and styling items were missing from the vehicle. Two other cars near hers had also been broken into. She noticed the offenders fleeing in a Buick. Police could not locate the offenders.
Sandwich shop robbed
Two men entered a sandwich shop in the 1400 block of W. Webster Oct. 30 at 11:13 p.m. and posed as customers. One of the men approached the counter and displayed a silver and black handgun and ordered the three employees to the back room. The offenders then put gloves on their hands. They ordered the manager to open a safe and hand over $4,500 to the offenders. They then instructed the manager to open a lower part of the safe, but he said he did not have access to it. The offender then ordered one of the other employees to open the register. She did and handed over $500 to the offenders. The offenders fled, and the employees said they heard a car speed away, but did notice the vehicle’s make. Police are investigating.
Robbery, attempted
Two men in blue jeans approached a student in the 2000 block of N. Halsted Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. and implied they had a gun. They demanded money. The student told them he had none. The offenders fled. The victim did not report the incident until Oct. 27. Police asked him why he waited so long to make the report. The victim said he didn’t know.
