At around 5:45 p.m. on September 13, a 31-year-old man was sitting outside a teahouse on the 800 block of N. Rush when an unknown male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt ran up and stole his iPhone, which was sitting on a table. Police learned that the offender, believed to be between 13 and 18 years old, is frequently seen hanging around Chicago Avenue and Pearson Street. The man’s phone was valued at $350.

Gone gone

A man living on the 800 block of N. Wabash told police that, upon returning home from work on the evening of September 9, he found two computers had been stolen from his residence. Also missing were $140 in various coins and his Xbox.. The man reported no signs of forced entry.

Road rage

A 38-year-old woman told police that during a traffic altercation on the 700 block of N. State, a man got out of his car, produced a gun and said to her: “I should f****** shoot you.” The incident allegedly occurred at 4:45 p.m. on September 12.

A woman living on the 200 block of W. Scott woke on the morning of September 10 to find that someone had broken into her home and stolen a laptop and a wallet. The victim told police that she and her boyfriend had heard sounds at 4:00 a.m., but the man checked around and did not find anyone in the apartment. Later, the couple deduced that the offender had entered and exited the apartment through a rear window.

Look out

In the early morning of September 9, near the 400 block of N. Michigan, a verbal argument between a man in a car and another man driving a scooter escalated when the latter punched the man’s car door. The victim was able to jot down the license number from the scooter before the offender sped off.

Quick pick

A man and a woman teamed up to rob an unsuspecting male victim exiting a currency exchange on the 100 block of E. Chicago on the afternoon of September 10. According to a police report, as the man left the building, where he had just cashed a check and got a bus pass, the female suspect turned to him and said “Hi, you look good.” As the victim was distracted, the male suspect bumped into him and removed $650 in cash out of his front pocket. Both suspects then fled northbound up Rush Street.

Stolen cash

On the early morning of September 11, a man from Mount Prospect, IL was robbed on the 100 block of W. Hubbard by an unknown male suspect who approached him and asked for money. When the victim opened his wallet, the man grabbed all of his money and fled. The victim chased the man, but was stopped by two other men, one of whom brandished a knife and threatened him. Police toured the area but did not find the offenders.
