A 26-year-old woman was robbed on the first block of West Maple Street at 9:30 a.m. on July 20.
The woman told police that she was walking westbound on the street when a young man pushed her from behind and grabbed her iPhone, valued at $400, out of her hand. The offender then ran away down a nearby alley.
A very thorough vandalization
Upon returning to his car which was parked on the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue on the evening of July 14, a 26-year-old Lincoln Park man noticed that his front passenger-side tire had been punctured. Further inspection of the car — a 2002 red Chevrolet — revealed that someone had put dog feces under each door handle.
The customer is sometimes wrong
Police arrested Lesha D. Watts, of the 6000 block of West Hoyne Avenue, after she became unruly at the Rock and Roll McDonald’s in River North.
At around 7:00 a.m. on July 15, Watts reportedly entered the restaurant, located on the 600 block of North Clark Street, and ordered an egg McMuffin. The offender, 26, then stated that she did not have enough money to pay for the order but demanded that the cashier give her the food anyway, at which point she was asked to leave.
Watts refused and began swearing at the restaurant staff, and a security guard detained her on the premises. Once in custody, the offender became combative and allegedly kicked a police sergeant in the leg.
Drunk man robbed of phone, money, computer
A 28-year-old man told police that he was robbed — possibly at gunpoint — at around 4:00 a.m. on July 22.
The victim, who said that he was intoxicated at the time, was walking on the 900 block of North Orleans Street when an unknown male suspect threw him to the ground and put what appeared to be a gun to his head. The man then took the victim’s wallet, iPhone and laptop computer before fleeing.
The man told police that he didn’t remember anything except that he had been lying face down during the robbery.
‘The Hangover,’ Chicago edition
A 23-year-old man from Glendale Heights had a blurry night in the city. The man told police he was leaving a boutique night club on the 800 block of West Evergreen Avenue at around 2:00 a.m. on July 9 when an man believed to be in his thirties approached him and put a gun to his chest.
The man said that he did not recall the incident beyond that point, and stated that he woke up at around 9:00 a.m. the next morning in a Jeep that did not belong to him and saw that his shoes, cellphone and keys were missing.
Beat up, robbed — then arrested for drug possession
Max Fleck, of the 1500 block of West Fullerton Avenue, found himself in police custody after making a series of bad choices on the night of July 13.
Fleck, 20, told police that he and his roommate invited over an acquaintance to hang out that evening. The acquaintance, believed to be in his early thirties, showed up with two men who Fleck had never met before.
After spending about an hour in the apartment, the acquaintance and his friends attacked the Fleck and his roommate, striking Fleck in the face and hitting his roommate over the head with a bottle and slashing his back with a box cutter. The offenders then held down the victims and searched their apartment, taking a laptop valued at $2,000 and $60 in cash before leaving the house.
Fleck’s roommate was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. During an investigation at the apartment, Fleck told police officers that the men had also taken two pounds of cannabis, valued at $6,200, which belonged to him.
The officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis and identified narcotics to be in plain sight in the apartment, at which point Fleck was put arrested and transported to the 18th District police station.
This summary contains information taken from the arrest records from the 18th District of the Chicago Police Department. Anyone named has only been charged with a crime. The cases have not yet been adjudicated.
