Taxi hailer rips off wallet

A woman exited a restaurant in the 300 block of N. LaSalle March 16 at 9:50 p.m. when a man in a black leather jacket stepped in front of her and flagged down a cab. The cab flagger asked the woman for $20 for getting the cab. The woman said she could give him $5. As she pulled out her wallet, the man grabbed her wallet containing $250 and fled south on LaSalle.
Man slashed
A man was walking down the 500 block of W. Division March 19 at 5:04 p.m. when a woman and another man approached him. The man started punching the walker, who fell to the ground. The woman approached and started swinging a black-handled knife at the victim, slashing him on the shoulder and the hand. The woman and the male offender then got into a white car and fled east on Division. The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and released.
Man attacked while on cell
A man made a call on his cell phone in the 1400 block of N. Wells March 19 at 5:44 p.m. While he was on his phone, an unknown person struck him in the back of the head, taking his phone. The offender fled south on Wells and west on Schiller. Police toured the area, but did not locate the offender.
Car disappears from valet
A woman gave the keys to her 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse to a valet attendant for a restaurant located in the 300 block of W. Ontario on March 21 and was issued a ticket for the car. She gave the ticket to a friend. When she decided to leave around 2:30 a.m. her friend could not be located. The valet for the restaurant could not find her car or the keys. Later that morning police responded to a call of a tripped burglar alarm on a car parked in the 400 block of N. Wells, where they found the woman’s car parked in an alley blocking a garage entrance. The windows were rolled down and it was raining.
Hotel domestic dispute
Police were dispatched to a hotel room located in the 100 block of E. Walton March 20 at 10:42 p.m. for a domestic dispute. When they arrived, they found a woman with a swollen left eye and minor swelling on her nose. She told police that during a verbal altercation, her boyfriend began to strangle her. She escaped and ran toward the front door, but he grabbed her, turned her around and struck her with his fist. He then threw her down, sat on her, and covered her nose and mouth and said, “I will f— kill you and toss your body in the middle of Lake Michigan.” The victim got away and locked herself in a bedroom. She called the hotel operator, who notified police. Police placed the offender into custody and found a baggie containing a green, leafy substance suspected to be cannabis in his front pocket. The offender told police, “I just elbowed her trying to get her off of me while she was pulling my hair.” Police transported the offender to the 18th District station.
Brawling at the bar
A security guard for a bar located in the 500 block of N. LaSalle was escorting an unruly patron out of the bar on March 21 at 1:10 a.m. when the patron started swinging his arms and struck the guard with his fist in the right side of the face, causing abrasions and minor swelling. Other bar staff came to the security guard’s defense and secured the offender. Police arrived to arrest and charge the offender with battery.
Woman robbed entering hospital
A woman was entering a revolving door entrance for a hospital located in the 200 block of E. Superior March 20 at 3:35 p.m. when two men stopped the door and trapped her. One of them took her purse, unzipped it, and removed a wallet containing $250 and fled. Police did not locate the offenders.
Pedestrian hits driver
A man was pulling his car out of a garage located on the 100 block of E. Superior March 20 at 11:40 p.m., when a pedestrian walked in front and struck the car with his hand. The pedestrian then yelled, “You almost hit me.” The driver told the pedestrian he didn’t see him. The offender then started hitting the driver in the face, causing a laceration near his left eye. The offender fled in an unknown direction. The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment.
