Office worker robbed

A woman was working in her office in the 900 block of W. North Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. when she had to go to the lobby. She secured her office door and left. When she returned an hour and a half later, she discovered her purse and her laptop missing. She told police when she returned to the office the door was still locked. There were no security cameras on the premises. The elevator offered access to all floors.
Satellite radio stolen
A woman went entered her 1991 Lexus in her garage located in the 1600 block of N. Sedgwick Feb. 14 at 3:11 p.m. and discovered her satellite radio was missing. She called police who took pictures and dusted for fingerprints on the scene.
Thieves take money, cell
A woman was walking near the 200 block of E. Pearson Feb. 14 at 12:18 p.m. when two men ran up from behind, pushed her down and demanded her cell phone and money. The woman handed over the phone and $5. The men fled. Police toured the area, but did not locate the offenders.
Window busted, computers taken
Police on routine patrol Feb. 13 at 7:45 a.m. noticed a window broken on a building located in the 700 block of W. Armitage. They searched the building and found a red brick laying at the base of its door. Police secured the building and called the owner. The owner arrived and discovered two computers had been taken from the premises.
Restaurant brawl
Police arrived at a restaurant located in the 600 block of N. Wells Feb. 13 at 11:19 p.m. and spoke to a manager who said a fight broke out between patrons and a woman broke two picture frames on the wall and then damaged a door. The manager recorded the license plate of the vehicle the woman fled in and gave it to police. Police radioed a description of the offenders to nearby units who toured the area, but could not locate the woman.
Fur scarf ripped off
A woman was walking near the 800 block of N. Michigan Feb. 13 at 10:15 a.m. when two men ran by her and ripped her $350 fur-trimmed black scarf from her neck and fled. Police toured the area, but didn’t locate the offenders.
Taxi driver attacks car
A woman was driving near the 600 block of W. Chicago Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. when a taxi driver pulled alongside her car with his taxi. He then exited his car and started pounding his hood on her car and yelling that he was going to kill her. The woman pulled away and fled. Police toured the area, but did not find the cab driver.
Man whips pedestrian with belt
A woman was walking down the street with her friend near the 100 block of W. Division Feb. 13 at 4:41 a.m. when a man approached and started yelling at them. The man then removed his belt and started swinging it towards the women and struck one of them in the back. Police arrived, found the offender and arrested him.
Depositor robbed at gunpoint
A man was walking near the 2100 block of N. Kenmore Feb. 10 at 8:27 p.m. when another man stopped him and asked him where he was going. He told the other man he was going to the bank to deposit some money. The man in the car told the man going to the bank that he’d give him a ride. The pedestrian refused. Tman in the car pulled out a gun and put it to the pedestrian’s head; he demanded money. The victim pulled his money out and gave it to the man with the gun. As the man with the gun grabbed the loot, the victim grabbed the gun from the offender and tried to get his money back. The gun fell from the offenders hand and a struggle ensued. The offender punched the victim in the face and told the victim he really needed the money. The offender then fled down a nearby alley with the victim’s money. Police arrived and toured the area, but did not find the offender.
Man finds garage burgled
A man returned to his residence in the 1400 block of N. Sedgwick Feb. 8 at 10:37 a.m. and found the side door of his garage opened and garage door severely damaged. He searched the garage and found $600 of power tools, $450 of designer sunglasses and $2,000 in golf clubs missing.
