Cabbie gets pissed

A Yellow Cab driver pulled up to a hotel in the 100 block of E. Huron Feb. 6 6:55 p.m., got out of his car and attempted to enter the hotel. An employee for the hotel stopped him and said that because of a new company policy, cab drivers are no longer allowed to use the hotel’s restroom. The taxi driver became enraged, told the employee to “get f—” and then spit in his face. The driver fled and was not located by police.
Man beaten, robbed near alley
A man was walking past an alley near the 1900 block of N. Larrabee Feb. 7 at 3:40 p.m. where five other men were congregating. One of the men yelled out to the walking man, asking him to stop. The walker refused and kept moving. Two of the men emerged from the alley, grabbed the walker, punched him in the face and back and knocked him to the ground. One of the offenders grabbed the victim’s backpack and fled. Police arrived and toured the area, but did not locate the offenders.
Credit caper
A man let a woman use the bathroom at his residence located in 100 block of W. Superior Feb. 6 at 8:40 p.m. After a few minutes the man noticed the woman was taking too long. He checked on her, found her gone and two of his credit cards missing. The victim told police he though the woman might be a prostitute.
Man beaten in restroom
A man was using the men’s room at a building in the 100 block of W. Ontario Feb. 6 at 11:40 a.m. when eight men approached him, started kicking him in the head and body. The offenders took his gold chain, miscellaneous credit cards and his cell phone. The man blacked out and woke up at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a police report said.
Two men shot
Police received a call of shots fired in a building in the 1200 block of N. Burling Feb. 6 at 2:21 a.m. Officers arrived on location, and found a man limping on the sixth floor of the building. The man told police he’d been shot in the right leg, but wouldn’t give officers any more information. Police went to the tenth floor and found another man lying on the ground with gunshots to his left arm and right leg. That man also refused to give police any details except that the man who’d shot him was wearing a black jacket. Police had both men transported top Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment. They recovered spent bullet casings in the tenth floor stairwell of the building and requested footage from building security cameras for their investigation.
Laptop stolen in break-in
Several people walking past a home in the 700 block of W. Armitage Feb. 6 at 10:10 a.m. told police they noticed the home’s front window was broken. Officers arrived, secured the house and got in touch with the owner. The owner arrived and found someone had taken her Sony Vaio laptop.
Man threatens clerk
A man entered a convenience store located in the 300 block of W. North Feb. 6 at 12:03 a.m. and told the clerk to come outside and, “I’ll shoot you three times.” The offender then opened his coat and displayed a black handgun. The victim told the offender to leave the store, as he had on many previous occasions, and the offender complied. Police arrived, toured the area, but did not locate the offender.
Burglarized on Concord
A woman came home for lunch at her residence in the 300 block of W. Concord Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. and noticed her back door was open. She locked up and went back to work. When she returned to her home after work, she noticed her Mac laptop and iPod were missing.
Man robbed on State
A man was walking in the 600 block of N. State Feb. 6 at 7:22 a.m. when another man approached him and said, “Don’t move,” and grabbed him. The offender rifled through the man’s pockets and removed his wallet and his Sprint cell phone. The offender then fled south on State. The victim tried to follow him, but lost sight of the man as he ran east on Grand. Police could not locate the offender.
