Merle is a beautiful, brave German Shepherd with a heart of gold. This amazing girl came to PAWS Chicago after she was rescued from a puppy mill. Merle spent the first eight years of her life behind bars, while her puppies were sold for profit. Despite her dismal circumstances, it’s easy to see Merle’s kind spirit and friendly disposition.

Booker is a 2-year-old Miniature Poodle/Daschund mix with a not-so-miniature personality! This sweetheart was given up to Chicago Animal Care & Control by his previous owner, along with six other dogs. Poor Booker was covered in tangled fur and dirt, and had to be shaved, but his handsome coat of black curls is starting to grow back.

Free rides for seniors set to expire in August

After being shot down by Gov. Pat Quinn and the general assembly earlier this year, the program that gave senior citizens unlimited free rides on public transportation in Illinois will come to an end on Aug. 12.

Renata is a pretty, 4-year-old orange tabby who would love to become a part of your life! This little lady came to PAWS Chicago when a kind animal-lover found her living outdoors. There were several feral cats in the neighborhood who were bullying Renata, so her rescuer took her in and found her to be very sweet and friendly.

No shuttle, but Adler Planetarium gets constellation prize

Chicago has added one more heartbreak to its list of losses. Think 2016 Olympics and the 2022 World Cup. On the 30th anniversary of the first space shuttle flight Tuesday, NASA announced Chicago’s Adler Planetarium won’t receive one of the four retiring space shuttles.
