Chicago’s libraries and parks are both closed on Monday, but one’s for a holiday and the other is to save money.
The Chicago Park District will shut down its facilities in an effort to save money and balance its budget for this year. Shutting down for a day will save the district $2.5 million, Park District chief Tim Mitchell told the Chicago Tribune.
The library, however, will simply be closed in observance of Pulaski Day.
Both will reopen on Tuesday.
