Opponents of the new Children's Memorial Hospital's heliport hope an anonymous whistleblower will force a second look at the controversial helicopter landing pad. Last week, the neighborhood group Streeterville Organization of Active Residents announced that it had reached out to the U.S. Department of Transportation's inspector general with an anonymous letter it had received.

With Chicago Public Schools placing half of its schools on probation for low academic performance, CEO Jean-Claude Brizard proposed an aggressive reform plan to turn around 10 failing institutions, close two others and phase out of five more in an effort to improve educational outcomes for nearly 7,200 students.

When John Wayne Gacy hit Lake View

We always just called him "Bundy," or "Billy Bundy." It was rarely "Bill," and certainly never "William." The rest of the world now knows him as John Gacy's 19th victim. But to our group of teenagers, Bundy was so much more. He was our friend with the quick grin and mischievous twinkle in his eye, who dressed in blue jean overalls and loved a good party.
