Police recorded a number of seemingly linked home break-ins in the West Lincoln Park area last week. On the morning of April 18, police responding to a burglar alarm call at a building in the 1600 block of North Dayton Street found that the second floor rear door of the unit had been kicked in.

Old Town decries community leader's firing

There’s something brewing in Old Town, and it ain’t Shirley Baugher’s coffee over at the Old Town Triangle Association, 1763 N. North Park Ave. Baugher’s no longer there, as her longtime administrator position was recently eliminated by a new board. That move has caused a rift among neighbors, even leading to the formation of a new grassroots group, Neighbors for a Better Old Town (NBOT).

Chicago has added one more heartbreak to its list of losses. Think 2016 Olympics and the 2022 World Cup. On the 30th anniversary of the first space shuttle flight Tuesday, NASA announced Chicago’s Adler Planetarium won’t receive one of the four retiring space shuttles.

Apartment robbery set-up

At around 2:30 a.m. on April 8, three unknown suspects, armed with handguns and brass knuckles, entered an apartment building on the 1200 block of North La Salle Boulevard and held the occupants — five men and a woman — at gun point while they looted the home.

Gabin is a super sweet 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix. This spotted pooch was brought to Animal Care & Control as a stray. Vets originally thought that Gabin was a puppy, due to his small size and baby face, but now believe him to be about 2-years-old.
