Sushi, nail salons hit Walgreens in Chicago
New features at new downtown store could roll out to neighborhood shops

A sushi bar, eyebrow grooming services and wine tastings. Sounds more like an expensive hotel than a drugstore. But Walgreen Co. plans to change your mind. The Deerfield-based company unveiled a two-story Walgreens at 151 N. State St. Tuesday that boasts fresh hand-rolled sushi, a juice bar, and a wine selection of more than 700 labels, some costing more than $400 a bottle.

On the afternoon of Jan. 9, police received a call of a reported bank robbery at a Gold Coast Chase Bank. Officers arriving at the bank, 1200 N. State Parkway., initially pulled over a car that was leaving the bank, but after conducting an interview they found that the driver was not involved in the incident.

Community leaders in Lincoln Park are taking up arms against a plan that could potentially split the North Side neighborhood into five different wards. Chicago's aldermen are currently deliberating over two proposals for the city's upcoming ward redistricting process, an often-arduous endeavor that occurs every 10 years.

Brian Doherty (41st), the city council’s only Republican alderman for the past twenty years, walked away from his post in May after a failed bid for a state senate seat.

At around 4:00 a.m. on Jan. 1, a man was talking on his iPhone while standing outside on the 700 block of North Fairbanks Court when he was attacked by two young men. The offenders reportedly punched the man in the face and grabbed his phone, wallet and keys.
