Teenager suspected in multiple robberies

Police were on the lookout for a boy suspected in a string of robberies committed in Lincoln Park over the past week. At around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, an unknown male suspect broke into a car parked on the 2200 block of North Clybourn Street and stole a black backpack from the vehicle. Witnesses gave chase and retrieved the bag from the offender, who was described as a black male, believed to be in his teens.

A man from Austin, Texas was attacked and robbed by an unknown suspect posing as a cab driver at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 13. The man, 25, told police that, while on the first block of West Hubbard Street, he flagged down a black Lincoln Continental town car that he believed to be a cab and got inside.

Someone I consider a local living landmark, Jim Peters, is leaving his post as president of Landmarks Illinois on Oct. 27. Here's wishing him the best of luck. Peters joined the nonprofit organization in 2001, and in that time has worked tirelessly on saving buildings such as Cook County Hospital, the Lathrop Homes and Prentice Women's Hospital, with extensive and feasible reuse studies.

Branden is a 3-year-old Rottweiler mix who found his way to PAWS Chicago after being picked up on the streets as a stray. This silly, fun-loving boy adores people, and always wants to be near you. He likes making new friends, and is quick to lean against your leg, give you a big smile, and wait to have his chest scratched.
