While in the bathroom in her home around 7:30 a.m. July 11, a woman noticed a man hiding in her closet. She screamed and the man jumped out and began choking her. After a short struggle the man fled the home, located in the 1900 block of N. Lincoln. Nothing was stolen, although police said that the man left behind a sock and a do-rag.
The woman was treated and released by physicians at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Police later released a community alert about the attack. The offender is described as a black male between 20-35 years old, about 57 to 59 and around 120 pounds. He is said to have a dark complexion, balding with black hair and brown eyes.
