Gabin

Amos

Meet Gabin

Gabin is a super sweet 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix. This spotted pooch was brought to Animal Care & Control as a stray. Vets originally thought that Gabin was a puppy, due to his small size and baby face, but now believe him to be about 2-years-old. Poor Gabin likely suffered from distemper, an illness that can delay growth, when he was younger. Luckily, he is now in perfect health and is ready to start his new life! Gabin became a part of the PAWS Chicago Adoption Program in late March, and has since been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Now all he needs is a family to care for him! This friendly pup always has his tail wagging when he meets a new person. Gabin doesn’t have much experience with other dogs, so his adopters will need to work on his socialization in his new home. Gabin loves to give kisses, and although he is energetic, most of the time he would much rather curl up in your lap than play with his toys. This adorable boy will make a perfect pet for the family that can give him the training and structure that he needs.

Meet Amos

Did you know that black cats are the least likely to be adopted? Studies show that cats with solid, dark coats are only half as likely to find homes as striped ones, and two-thirds less likely than white cats. Black cats have historically been associated with witchcraft and superstition, and even considered bad luck. Add to this their “plain” look, and they have become the invisible members of the shelter community.

Amos is just one example of these poor kitties. Despite her colorful personality, she has been overlooked by many adopters in favor of more unique-looking cats. This 2-year-old black beauty arrived at Chicago Animal Care & Control as a stray back in January, and luckily found her way to the PAWS Chicago Adoption Center where she is currently awaiting her forever home. Amos is so gentle and sweet– she loves to sit in laps and is fantastic with other felines. She even shares her toys and bed generously with the other cats in PAWS Chicago’s Kitty City. Amos is very small– only about 8 lbs.– but she has a big heart! Her pretty green eyes and sweet disposition are sure to win you over, if you take the time to get to know Amos. She may not be as exotic-looking as some of the striped or spotted cats out there, but none of them rival her personality. If you are looking for a loving, adorable, magnificent kitty, give Amos a chance. She is anything but ordinary!
