Drunk goes after cops

A taxi driver approached police in the 1100 block of N. State March 7 at 11:10 a.m. and said he had a passenger in his cab who was drunk and didn’t know where he wanted to go. The driver wanted the drunk out of his taxi, and though the fare was $6.40, he told the drunk man he didn’t have to pay as long as he got out of the cab so the driver could get back to work. The officers asked the drunk man to get out, but he started yelling at them. Eventually the man got out. Police started to get into their squad car to continue patrolling the area, when the drunk man struck the rear window of their squad car with his fist. The offender was arrested and transported to the 18th District for processing.

Unexpected pepper spray

A woman returned to her apartment in the 100 block of W. Chicago March 7 at 12:53 p.m. when a man in the hallway pepper sprayed her for no apparent reason. The man fled and the woman called police. Officers arrived and took the woman to Northwestern Hospital to treat her burning eyes.

Suspected dealer attacks police

Police received a call of narcotics activity in the 100 block of E. Chicago March 6 at 9:56 p.m. so they drove to the area, found a man on the corner who matched the description of the suspect selling drugs and started to conduct a field interview. The man started yelling profanities at the cops. One of the officers attempted to conduct a protective pat down and the man started clenching his fists and said, “I don’t get down like that with the police. We can do some UFC s—,” and then shoved one of the officers in the chest. The other officer attempted to place the offender in to custody, but the offender punched him in the face. The first officer then used an emergency take down procedure to cuff the offender. After the officers secured the man, they transferred him to the 18th District police station. One of the officers had a large scrape to his forehead and laceration to his right thumb.

Dog walker jumped

A man was walking a dog near the 500 block of W. Chicago March 6 at 1:45 p.m. when a man approached and asked if he wanted to buy crack. The dog walker said no. Six or seven men then jumped out and started beating him. They went through the victim’s pockets and removed $15. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment. Police did not locate the offenders.

Plasma purloined

A woman returned to her home in the 1300 block of N. Hudson March 6 at 11:25 a.m. and found someone had entered her apartment illegally. She searched the home and found her plasma television missing.

Woman attacked with bottle

A woman was dancing with a man at a party in a building located in the 1200 block of N. Burling March 6 at 3:01 a.m., when another woman approached, grabbed her by the hair and struck her in the face with a beer bottle. The victim sustained a 2” cut to the left side of her face above her eyebrow. The victim was taken to Northwestern Hospital. The offender escaped.

Man attacked on Chicago Ave.

A man was walking near the 500 block of W. Chicago March 5 at 7:30 p.m. when two men asked him for money. He said he had none and continued walking. The men then ran up to him and demanded, “Give me your money” while holding a sharp cutting instrument. The man refused and attempted to run away, but the men grabbed him, hit him in the face and then took his iPod and his backpack. The man was able to break free and take his property back. The man went to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for cuts and swelling to his cheeks, nose and lips.

Man robbed by beggar

A man was walking near the 1100 block of N. Wells March 3 at 8:22 p.m. when a man approached and asked him for some change. The man removed his wallet and the offender swatted it out of his hand and grabbed $40 and then fled. Police toured the area, but could not locate the offender.
