An agent for an art gallery on the 300 block of West Superior Street told police that on the afternoon of Feb. 1, a group of people walked into the gallery and proceeded to steal an oil painting. The party — consisting of two men and a woman with a young child, all believed to be of Middle Eastern descent — walked past the front counter of the gallery and out the front door with the work, a 17 by 23 inch oil painting of an apple orchard that was valued at $2,500. The offenders were seen leaving in a gray minivan.

The resident of the home told police that the other man, believed to be in his twenties, stated “I will shoot you” as he reached under the seat of his car. The offender then drove away before producing a weapon.
